Key Considerations for Steel Structure Construction

2025-01-25    104

Steel-framed buildings, known for their light weight, good plasticity, high strength, convenient construction, and rapid installation, are increasingly being utilized in our daily lives. It's remarkable how, with the acceleration of urbanization, the construction industry has continued to thrive at a rapid pace. However, there are several critical aspects to keep in mind during the construction process.

1.Pre-construction Review: Before initiating steel structure construction, it is imperative to organize a team comprising supervisors, technical personnel from the construction company, and the construction team to review the design drawings and relevant technical standards. This ensures a thorough technical handover.

2.Inspection of Embedded Parts: Upon arrival, embedded parts for the steel structure project must be inspected to guarantee their quality meets design specifications. This includes verifying the correctness of steel specifications and models, rust removal and rust prevention measures, and welding quality.

3.Embedding Foundation Bolts: In accordance with design requirements, foundation bolts should be embedded, followed by concrete pouring.

4.Onsite Steel Structure Lifting: The lifting of steel structures should adhere to the principle of "columns first, beams second; bottom first, top second; middle to sides." Steel columns are lifted first. When the lifted column base is approximately 40 centimeters away from the foundation bolt, it should be aligned, and the bolt tightened to complete the installation. Subsequently, steel beams are lifted, followed by eaves beams, tie rods, and other components.

5.Alignment of Lifted Structures: The lifted structures require alignment. Steel columns should be aligned using a plumb bob, and any leaning columns should be corrected with shim plates. Steel beams should be aligned using a level.

6.Safety Precautions: Given that steel structure lifting involves high-altitude operations and human-machine collaboration, operators must wear safety helmets and securely fasten safety harnesses. Comprehensive safety measures must be in place, and a safety supervisor should oversee the lifting operations.

This guidance aims to ensure the smooth and safe execution of steel structure construction projects, aligning with best practices and regulatory requirements in the United States.
