Advantages of Light Steel Structure Houses

Prefabricated steel structure buildings, as exemplary representatives of green buildings, meet nearly all requirements and have become a new industry that is being promoted and focused on by governments at all levels, real estate developers, and investors.

One of the primary advantages of steel structure houses is their lightweight nature. The structural weight of these houses is only about 1/5 of traditional brick-concrete structures and 1/8 of reinforced concrete structures.

Steel Structure

The primary advantage of light steel houses lies in their ability to withstand any geological conditions. They can be effectively constructed in various environments with poor geological conditions, saving construction time and relying mainly on dry construction methods.

In geological disaster areas, houses often collapse due to foundation subsidence caused by the excessive weight of brick-concrete structures. However, light steel structure houses are lightweight, with their main load-bearing structure composed of cold-formed thin-walled steel as the primary load-bearing components, forming a very sturdy "plate-ribbed structural system." This structural system exhibits enhanced earthquake resistance.

Since light steel houses are prefabricated in factories, they only require assembly upon arrival at the site. For example, the main structure of a house with a building area of approximately 250 square meters can be completed in just 5 to 6 days, and all exterior decorations can be finished within 2 months, with interior decoration work able to be carried out simultaneously. This significantly shortens the construction cycle compared to traditional buildings.

Steel Structure

The foundations of light steel structure houses typically adopt strip foundations or slab foundations. For houses of the same layout, the foundation cost of ultra-light steel structure houses is only about one-third of that of brick-concrete structures and one-sixth of that of reinforced concrete structures, significantly reducing foundation construction costs.

On the surface, light steel structure houses may seem more expensive than traditional materials. However, they shorten the construction period and reduce labor costs. Due to their excellent energy-saving performance, these houses can lower energy consumption. With a larger effective area, houses built using the light steel method have a lower actual cost when calculated based on the usable floor area.
